01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Choose a cream puff and enjoy it with coffee on the spot: that’s the kind of break you can take at OAHU KYOTO Nishijin Main Store. Diners have mentioned pairing a cream puff with iced coffee, making the shop an option not just for takeaway but also for a sit-down pause during a walk around the area.

For a first taste, try the Original Choux, described as the popular No. 1. Its melt-in-the-mouth shell is generously filled with milky custard that has a gentle sweetness. For a creamier combination, the Fresh Cream Choux pairs Hokkaido cream with house-made custard, while the Fresh Cream Choux (Hokkaido cream) is topped with a generous swirl of Hokkaido cream over the house custard. If you want to focus on custard itself, there is also the Flan Choux: a choux shell filled with cream and baked a second time. Its thick, firm puff and densely rich custard make for a more substantial bite than the classic.

There are other sweets beyond cream puffs, including the Oahu Roll, made by rolling house-made custard in sponge cake. It is described as fluffy, rich but not cloying, and available by the slice or whole. Some customers have chosen a slice, and reviews also mention buying the roll cake repeatedly.

Seasonal flavours offer another reason to look in the display case. On one visit, a diner enjoyed a limited-time pudding cream puff in the shop, saying the pudding was delicious and disappeared in no time. Seasonal items vary, so you can also choose from what is available in the case that day.
